Tea and Teach – Staying Safe Online

Next week will see the final date of the three sessions of Tea and Teach – Staying Safe Online. In partnership with Barclay’s Digital Eagles and the University of Leeds Caring Together arranged to host a series of three online sessions in February and March 2018. A chance to get the latest advice and guidance about how to protect yourself whilst online. And,of course,  a chance to have a chat and refreshments .

A Woman’s Place?

Caring Together were delighted to be invited to become involved in the ‘A Woman’s Place?’ exhibition organised by Abbey House Museum. Members (and staff) were photographed as part of the exhibition which will run until December 2018.

On the centenary of some, not all, British women getting the vote, A Woman’s Place? looks at the struggles and progress of women in achieving equality and recognition.

The exhibition reveals how everyday life has changed for women in the home, school and workplace. We hope to inspire women and girls to believe that their ambitions and achievements are not limited by their gender, said Social History Curator Kitty Ross.

‘Just the motion’

Caring Together run 3 weekly exercise groups, on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Above is the Tuesday Group pictured recently. Usually a much bigger group, its numbers were depleted during January and February due to the numbers coming down with colds and viruses. Now that the weather has improved we will see the numbers rising again. Oh wait a minute…!

Lightening the load

Last year a group of volunteers from Zurich helped to tidy up the Caring Together allotment. Noting that they would have liked to have had access to a wheelbarow to do the work, they then resolved to fundraise for one. This they did and this was delivered last month to the Caring Together office. The allotment members were delighted with this kind gesture. Many thanks from all here at Caring Together.

Welcome news

Caring Together are pleased to announce a successful month on the funding front. To aid us in our Volunteer Projects we have been granted funding towards salary costs from the National Lottery Funded Time to Shine project and from the Inner North West Community Committee.

In addition, we have received funding through, once again, Time to Shine, to look at the transport needs of our members.

All of this funding has to be spent in the year commencing April 2018 and will help cover existing posts for which funding had not been secured. Caring Together offer our thanks to the respective funders for the faith that they have shown in us. The money raised comes at a welcome time. Fundraising is a continuous part of what we do and while we are confident in the quality of what we offer there is always the uncertainty of knowing whether or not you will be successful in covering all costs.
