Boccia in Little London

Image result for bocciaA Boccia session will be held at Caring Together’s Wednesday Group at Little London Community Centre tomorrow. between 2pm and 3pm. This game is played as a group and is similar to bowls, yet indoors, it is great exercise which tests muscle, control and accuracy, and fun, with the opportunity to play games in teams. Boccia has origins in ancient Greece, where players threw large stones at a small target.

Dancing the ‘Afternoon’ Away

It has been good to have the Dance-on sessions up and running and also to be doing this in the city centre. Caring Together received funding from Time to Shine  recently relating to developing services in the city centre and these sessions will go a long way to making a start in working towards that.

The Dance on sessions are in collaboration with Yorkshire Dance and take place every Wednesday (for 11 more sessions)

If you are interested in joining us the:

Dance On Classes are 10.30am to 11.30am.

Every picture tells a story.

World Story Day at Caring Together took place last month on the 20th March. We meant to post this earlier but had issues with loading videos that we wanted to show. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to do this but hope to get this sorted and show them at some point in the future. So for now pictures will suffice. This was a great afternoon with members reading their own stories or excerpts from the work of others. Short stories and poetry. It was all there in the mix. We were also delighted to have Leeds very own author Chris Nickson in attendance who read an excerpt from his most recent novel, the Leaden Heart. Many thanks to all who took part. I can see this becoming an annual thing for us.

William Merritt Centre visits Caring Together

Staff from the William Merritt Centre visited our Tuesday and Wednesday Groups last week. The information sessions were well received.

The William Merritt centre is a charity and a social enterprise. They offer impartial and professional advice for Children and Adults  carrying out assessments for clients, healthcare professionals and members of the public about daily living aids. They offer a try before you buy ethos allowing clients to identify individual needs to enhance their independence.

They are also a Regional Driving Assessment Service and do driving assessments, passenger assessments and assessments for vehicle adaptations.

‘A Light exists in Spring…

…Not present on the Year
At any other period –
When March is scarcely here’

Photo from Ben at the allotment who added

‘…all looking very springlike..the wren flying back and forth in the shed..she’s decided to build a nest in there again…don’t know if she’ll stay when I start rattling around…hope the wasps don’t come back’

As always, if you are interested in helping out at our plot on Woodhouse Moor, just give us a bell on 2430298 and we will happily show you around.
