It runs for 6 sessions and looks at how life events could start to change our outlook, which can affect us physically, what we do day to day and our thinking.  The sessions look at techniques to improve sleep, get back to doing what we enjoy, tackle worries, problem solving and other well-being information. We will also have our employment advisers deliver a session on working in later life covering a range of topics. This course is primarily aimed at people aged 50+, however anyone who feels that they would benefit from a course aimed at older adults is welcome to book a place.

M&S Archive Visit

Our links with the M&S Archive continued with a recent visit by them to Caring Together. These visits are always popular and this was no exception.

The Marks in Time Exhibition at the M&S Company Archive celebrates the role that Marks & Spencer has played in peoples’ lives for over 130 years. Here, you can explore the development and impact M&S has had on the social history of Britain. From boardroom battles to staff welfare, from puddings to pants, the exhibition explores how M&S has led the way in innovation, quality and service.

Leeds Volunteering Fair

Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) and the Leeds Volunteer Managers’ Network held a Volunteer Recruitment Fair last Tuesday, 25 June, at The Event Space in Kirkgate Market.

The event was open to members of the public, to drop-in and find out more about volunteering, meet the organisations recruiting volunteers and find out about the hundreds of roles available across the city.
Over 60 organisations looking to recruit volunteers in Leeds were exhibiting at the fair, with stalls, information and people to talk to.
Caring Together were there with our own stall looked after by our own volunteer coordinator, Lisa,  a student on a work placement,  and volunteers Ben and Myrna.

‘Women Reflecting on Women’

There was a good turnout from Caring Together at last weeks introductory event for the year long heritage project: ‘Women Reflecting on Women, are we there yet?

During 2019 Skippko artists will be working in communities to research and gather the stories of lesser known women who were involved in the fight for suffrage at the turn of the 20th century.

Participants from 13 different community groups, of which Caring Together are one, will learn about Leeds working class women, before exploring their own heritage stories.
