European Year of the Volunteer 2011
So far this year Caring Together has been supported by 60+ volunteers, from 14 to 83years of age, this includes our core volunteers, and our regular supporters/helpers, the figure also includes those from Leeds Met Student Union, City of Leeds School and Zurich Insurance. Some of our volunteers have been with us since 1995, their support is truly humbling, we could not have provided half of what we have done without them.
As part of European Year of the Volunteer, Caring Together would like to highlight the hours offered by our volunteers. We know this is only a snap shot in time of their contribution, but we feel it would be a lovely way of highlighting what our volunteers can, and do already offer to support a local community based service.
To date (July'11), the UK as a whole has volunteered 11,224 hours with Leeds itself volunteering 200 hours. Brussels is currenlty leading with their registered volunteer hours reaching 24,308. We hope by capturing what is already happening here at Caring Together, we can boost the current total.
