1st – 7th June is
volunteers week. A time to recognise and celebrate the massive contribution volunteers make to organisations like Caring Together.
By coincidence it’s also the week we are sending out our newsletter so our office is a hive of industry this afternoon with volunteers busy putting the newsletter and lots of inserts together. Then more of our army of helpers will be out delivering many of these to our members letting them know about all the exciting things we have going on this Summer

Caring Together popped long to the Connect and Create session at the Tetley yesterday. Usually there is a theme with artists facilitating the sessions. This week it was an open session with some people opting to create while others discussed all and everything artistic. There was a good turnout and the room was full. Really enjoyable.
(Open to men and women 55 and above)During 2019 Skippko artists will be working in communities to research and gather the stories of lesser known women who were involved in the fight for suffrage at the turn of the 20th century. One of the groups will run at Caring Together. Participants will learn about Leeds women, before exploring their own heritage stories with the support of two artists and librarians from the Local and Family History library.Â
The project will involve learning heritage techniques and sharing the stories unearthed through various mediums; that will be fun and informative using visual arts, writing and audio recordings. There will be outings too. All the work created will form an exhibition that will be on show at Leeds City Museum in May 2020.Â

30 letters arrived at Caring Together last week from from 8 to 9 year old pupils in one class (Year 4) at Little London Community Primary School, as part of our letter writing scheme. These are always welcome and a pleasure to receive, and staff and members will be kept busy preparing responses over the coming week.
Caring Together were once again at the Clothworkers Hall at Leeds University last week for the final Friday Lunchtime concert of the academic year. Cellists Rohan de, cellist of great fame, shared the afternoons program with Claudio Pasceri, one of the most appreciated Italian cellists of his generation.
Members of the British Lung Foundation and a Rehabilitation Lead Physiotherapist were available to chat with Caring Together members who attended our ‘Breathe Easy’ session last Thursday. This was all done in a convivial and relaxed session where members chatted and played board games while the professionals moved from table to table. Many thanks to all involved in facilitating this session.
