Support, advice and guidance

CARING TOGETHER is a small registered charity with hundreds of members. We offer advice, support and services to improve the quality of life for older people to enable them to live independently in their own homes.   We are managed by a voluntary management committee, made up of local older people, local councillors and professional people from business and education.

CARING TOGETHER employs 3 full time and 1 part time members of staff with grants from Adult Social Care and a range of charitable Trusts and donations from individuals and local groups.

We also have a group of dedicated volunteers, who help with all aspects of our work, that also includes planning and organising local fundraising activities and community events.

WHAT DO WE DO

WE OFFER a wide range of services and activities specifically for older people.

ASSESSMENT VISITS/ONGOING SUPPORT.

These are carried out by Caring Together staff. It helps us to get to know you and discuss a plan of action if needed as well as a valuable tool for you to get to know us.  Each member is asked what most concerns them, and also what would make their life more enjoyable. Once joined this can be a gateway to a whole host of activities and support options not just with us but other services in your area.

KEEP WELL, KEEP WARM.

WE CAN GIVE advice on energy bills and keeping warm.  We can also help with thermal bedding and other winter warmth items in the winter months.

HOME SECURITY.

WE CAN REFER you to the Fire Service for a fire safety check and fitting of free smoke alarms.  WE CAN ALSO refer you to a service for the fitting of security locks, door chains etc.

SOCIAL & EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES.

WE ORGANISE an annual party and day trips to places of interest.  We also organise regular social groups and classes including exercise sessions, crafts, walking, singing, games, visits to the theatre, short outings, a men’s group and inter-generational work in local schools. Find out more.

FRIENDLY  VISITING.

CARING TOGETHER has a small team of volunteers who can come and visit you on a regular basis. The opportunity to be a friendly visitor is also an option, find out more about being a Caring Together here

MONEY ADVICE.

WE CAN arrange a benefits check and provide advice on entitlement to benefits such as Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax.

WINTER SUPPORT VISITS

WE OFFER this to our oldest members, 80years+
