Become a volunteer

Caring Together is always pleased to welcome new volunteers. After reading the additional information about us, you will be asked to complete an application form, which includes providing the names of two people who can give you a character reference. Once you have completed and returned this application form a meeting will be arranged.

At the initial meeting the Capacity Building Support Worker will explain the work of Caring Together and discuss what skills and time you have to offer and the options available to you. Everyone has skills and experience that can be used to help others.

If, after this initial meeting, you decide to proceed, your two named referees will be contacted and, if appropriate, we will also undertake a CRB check. If all of these are satisfactory, an induction meeting will then be arranged to introduce you to the organisation, ensure that you have all the relevant information regarding your volunteer work and to make you aware of all your rights and responsibilities as a member of the volunteer team.

You will receive relevant training and on-going support to ensure that you are happy and confident in the tasks you are performing. There are regular support meetings where you can share experiences, friendship, support, encouragement and seek any advice needed. The Capacity Building Support Worker is also available for individual support sessions.
All tasks and activities will be organised by the Capacity Building Support Worker or her colleagues and all contact will be through them at the Caring Together office.
